What Are Patients Results After Stem Cell Therapy?

There are many hard-to-treat diseases in which conservative therapies show a weak effect. Many patients’ hopes are now in regenerative medicine, which uses a unique type of cell called ‘stem cells’. The therapy uses the stem cell’s ability to stimulate the growth of differentiated cells (neural cells, hepatocytes, myocytes, epithelial cells, etc.) to treat certain diseases, primarily associated with tissue damage: multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, autism, cirrhosis of the liver, arthritis, COPD, chronic bronchitis, asthma, post-stroke, macular degeneration, injury of the CNS and many others. And the number of people who have benefited from stem cell therapy continues to increase.

How life changes after stem cell therapy: a patient’s experience with type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes was my main problem with health for the last 15 years. I experienced every symptom associated with the disease: hyperglycemia (my blood sugar went over 200 mg/dl), obesity, hypertension, deterioration of kidney function, painful non-healing ulcers on my foot, and problems with my joints.

Due to excess weight, knee pain and the wounds on my feet, I was limited in physical activity and had to constantly monitor my health. My life was almost completely subordinate to the disease, which became the forefront of conversation within my family.

Two years ago I learned about stem cell therapy. It sounded good but I didn’t trust it enough, so I started my personal research in the field of regenerative medicine. I’ve reviewed a lot of studies and patients’ cases, then chose Swiss Medica based on their reviews and patient feedback. My desire to experience improvements was so great that I did not hesitate to go to Moscow.

The therapy was neither painful nor laborious. I received stem cells intravenously to treat my type 2 diabetes and local injections for my foot ulcers. I felt better in several days. But the major improvement appeared in several weeks. I came home after the treatment and my doctors, family, and I were all very surprised to see my results. Now my blood sugar levels have decreased and I can control them. My weight went down and blood pressure also decreased, even without the use of medications. My feet and joints feel much better, too.

Now that I have my diabetes under control, my blood sugar dropped below 120 mg/dl. I can participate in more activities with my family. And most importantly, I had the opportunity to discover other things that are not related to my disease. My life has become incredibly more fulfilling and healthier after stem cell treatment. And now I’m pain-free, too.

So, what are stem cells?

Multipotent mesenchymal stem cells (MMSCs) are present in the body of each person and the number of these cells is fixed at birth. However, age, diseases, lifestyle, stress, and harmful habits are the major factors of the decreasing stock of your own (autologous) stem cells.

The main property of stem cells is to find areas that require repair and help damaged tissues recover themselves by producing growth factors, in particular, cytokines.

Cytokines are cell-signaling protein molecules which affect cells, making them launch the regeneration process in local tissues. The peculiarity of cytokines is that they are produced in very limited quantities and only on demand. In addition, their effect is short. When introducing large doses of stem cells, we can purposefully help the patient’s body to start the recovery process in the damaged areas on its own.

What are the benefits of using stem cells?

Due to the regenerative ability of MMSCs, stem cell-based products help to:

  • restore cartilage (for patients with disorders of the musculoskeletal system);
  • restore neural conductivity (for patients with neurological disorders);
  • eliminate the inflammatory process (for patients with autoimmune diseases);
  • heal ulcers (for patients with diabetic foot and skin diseases);
  • delay or even avoid joint replacement in advanced cases (in arthritis);
  • stimulate the growth of new vessels;
  • relieve acute and chronic pain;
  • smooth wrinkles and make you look younger;
  • increase the efficiency of the primary treatment;
  • reduce reliance on medication;
  • prevent age-related disorders.

How is stem cell therapy performed?

Cell therapy is a massive injection of active stem cells into the patient’s body. It can be performed within one or several procedures, depending on the treatment plan which is made individually for each case.

For therapy, we can obtain stem cells from the patient’s own tissues – fatty tissue, bone marrow, peripheral blood, skin or gingiva, or use donor cells from donated tissues, including the placenta and umbilical cord. In the laboratory, the cells are grown to a required amount (therapeutic dose), known as ‘cultivation’.

At Swiss Medica, we utilize several forms of administration:

  • intravenously;
  • intrathecal (via the spinal cord);
  • intramuscular (direct to the muscle);
  • intraarticular (directly into a joint);
  • local injection,

according to the disease and patient condition.

What can stem cells do for your body?

It is important to understand that stem cells are not an absolute cure for every disease. The patient may be denied stem cell procedures for various reasons. The effectiveness of therapy for a particular disease depends on multiple factors: duration of the illness, the age of the patient, the existence of other chronic conditions, hereditary predisposition, lifestyle, etc.
